LCD Controller with SD Card Reader

for Prusa i2 and Prusa i3

Works with RAMPS, Sanguinololu and RAMBO

 

This controller allows you to print from your 3d printer without having your computer attached.  Simply place your gcode files onto a micro SD card, insert it into the controller, then choose the file you want to print.  It's that easy!  You can also print from your computer using a USB cable and host software.

 

Comes complete with the LCD (20x4 White on Blue Backlit) controller electronics with SD reader, printed case, wiring, plugs, and header pins (in case your electronics board doesn't have them already).  Features also include built-in contrast knob and reset switch.  Reset switch is located inside case and requires a toothpick or similar small item to be inserted to activate, which means no accidental presses while your printing is in progress.  Built around the popular SD RAMPS add-on board.

The following functions are available directly from the controller using the marlin firmware:

  • Print from file on micro SD card
  • Adjust feed rate as a percentage without reslicing your object
  • Preheat hotend and bed for PLA (with configurable temperatures)
  • Preheat hotend and bed for ABS (with configurable temperatures)
  • Home axis
  • Manually move any axis (including extruder) in .1mm, 1mm, and 10mm increments
  • Set hotend and bed temperature
  • Set fan speed
  • Change accelleration, jerk, axis max/min
  • Configure x, y and z steps per mm
  • Configure extruder steps per mm

RAMPS Support: You will need RAMPS version 1.3.  Marlin firmware is required and can be downloaded from here - https://github.com/ErikZalm/Marlin -  The firmware contains all the necessary code to run the controller.  You just simply need to enable the REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER option.

 

Sanguinololu Support: You will need Sanguinololu version 1.2 or higher.  Marlin firmware is required and can be downloaded from here - https://github.com/ErikZalm/Marlin -  The firmware contains all the necessary code to run the controller.  You just simply need to enable the REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER option.
 
RAMBO Support: You will need RAMBO version 1.2 or higher.  Marlin firmware is required and can be downloaded from here - https://github.com/ErikZalm/Marlin -  The firmware contains all the necessary code to run the controller.  You just simply need to enable the REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER option.
 

Also included are two sets of mounts that fit either a Prusa i2 or Prusa i3 printer.  These are fitted to snap onto the M8 front cross-rods.  You can also insert additional machine screws (not inlcuded) on the snap connects (similar to the bar clamps from a prusa i2) if you desire.  Of course, you can always print your own supports if you don't like the ones included, or want to mount it to a different place on your printer.  The perimeter of the case contains 16 mounting holes which can be utilized to mount your case anywhere you want.  Zip-ties will even work in a pinch.

    • Short 24AWG Wire (for soldering to the RAMPS Reset Switch if you want it enabled on your controller.  Note: This is optional and not required in order for your controller to work)
  • Additional Items for Sanguinololu:
    • 5+5 DIL Pin Header (for soldering to the Ext pad if you don't already have a header installed)
    • 3+3 DIL Pin Header (for soldering to the ISP/SPI pad if you don't already have a header installed)
  • Additional Items for RAMBO:
    • N/A
